Bentonite as an active natural filler for silicone leading to piezoelectric-like response material

Raw sodium bentonite (Bent) without preliminary treatments is incorporated as a filler in silicone matrix, from 5 to 100 parts per hundred (pph), by weight, simple mixing solution. The mixtures are processed films and stabilized condensation crosslinking at room temperature. Besides being environmentally safe non-toxic, 30 times cheaper than polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), so the cost price of composites can be reduced over 40%. Studies on effects addition properties reveal that thermal stability not significantly affected, while an increase amount inorganic residue with Bent content recorded. More importantly, mechanical dielectric influenced PDMS matrix. Young's modulus increases, elongation decreases, indicating stiffening material decrease its elasticity load increases. Most notably, permittivity increases up more five 10 3 Hz adding pph Bent, losses remain acceptable, especially high frequencies for all composites. Furthermore, study composite through Piezoresponse Force Microscopy piezoelectric testing system reveals outstanding piezoelectric-like response content. wide-angle X-ray diffraction indicates crystalline fraction - main factor influences apparent coefficient increasing load.
